A stroke incident leaves one in a situation involving new and stressful thoughts and emotions concerning one’s present and future life. The consequences may be several obvious and/or invisible impairments that influence one’s functioning and whole life situation. Many who have suffered a stroke remain dependent on others and are in need of health care.
The general aim of this thesis was to classify and describe long-term pain two years after a stroke and to describe the experiences of pain, and the consequences it has on the persons’ lives. The studies were conducted from a multidimensional perspective on pain, combining quantitative and qualitative methods.
