In spite of many parents’ wish to give a comfortable, supportive condition in which the kid can grow and develop socially appropriate behavior, they may sometimes behave toward their kids in a damaging or maybe harsh way. A few do this more regularly than others. This project analyzed the associations between harsh or inefficient parenting and children’s characteristics in forecasting different adjustment problems. The initial purpose of the report was to analyze if experienced harsh parental behaviour is connected with adjustment difficulties for children from different cultures in a similar fashion. Study I indicated that the impact of harsh parenting were virtually identical for children from various countries around the world, but the degree of these effects differed. The 2nd goal was to look at how parents and youths react to one another over time. Studies II and III revealed that children characteristics affected harsh or inept parenting and, to a lesser extent, parents’ behaviours may affect youth characteristics or behavior problems. The 3rd goal of this dissertation concerns the function of child or youth characteristics in the link between harsh parenting and adjustment problems.
